Happy New Year from the Troyer family!
The Troyer family feels fortunate to have spent Christmas & the New Years in Abingdon, Virginia. Abingdon is a small town in Washington County located 2 hours west of Roanoke.
Located along the historic Great Road, Abingdon is a town steeped in rich history and legends. This well-traveled wilderness route served as a pathway for pioneers venturing through the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains to settle the new American frontier. The land was surveyed in the mid-18th century by Dr. Thomas Walker, who would later partner with Peter Jefferson, father of Thomas Jefferson, in the Loyal Land Company.
Legend has it that Abingdon was named Wolf Hills in 1760 by Daniel Boone himself. As the story goes, Boone’s dogs were attacked by a pack of wolves in the area, leading him to give it this fearsome moniker.
The Town of Abingdon was officially established in 1778, thanks to an act of the Virginia Assembly. Just two years later, Abingdon played a vital role in the fight for American independence. Patriots from Virginia and North Carolina gathered at the Muster Grounds in Abingdon, embarking on a 300-mile march to Kings Mountain, South Carolina. Their courageous efforts in the ensuing battle proved to be a turning point in the Revolutionary War.
In 1860, Abingdon welcomed a new institution of higher learning, Martha Washington College. Housed in a converted private residence, this esteemed college provided education to young women until its closure in 1932. However, the magnificent building, affectionately known as “The Martha,” found new life as a hotel in 1935, preserving its grandeur and historical significance.
Abingdon’s captivating past and its role in shaping the nation make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. Explore the town’s charming streets, visit the Muster Grounds, and admire the architectural beauty of “The Martha” to experience the rich heritage of this remarkable town.

Westport Yachts Port Angeles, WA
In June 2023, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the renowned Westport Yachts alongside a group of extraordinary individuals. Our visit included a fascinating tour of their woodworking facility and the impressive 50m shipyard facility. It was truly a pleasure to witness the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into every Westport yacht.
During our visit, we were thrilled to learn about several exciting projects that are currently in the works and will soon be officially announced. One of the highlights is the transformation of the Westport 125, which has been stretched, resulting in the magnificent New W135. The revision offers a stretched profile, additional space in the engine room, and king sized beds in both the aft guests staterooms. This seems like a very natural evolution for the Westport 125.
In addition to this exciting development, Westport Yachts is actively building other remarkable vessels. Currently, they have a new 35m I W117′ yacht in production, showcasing their dedication to providing a wide range of options for their discerning clientele. The W117 builds upon the success of the W112 and features include: Walk-Around Side Decks, On-Deck Master, Beach Club, Gyro-Stabilization, and more. Furthermore, they are also working on an all-new 52M flagship, which is set to be a true masterpiece of design and engineering.
Over the past years, Westport has diligently worked at building a reputation as “Semi-Custom”. It has completed world-class builds like that of Westport 125 “PEPPER XIII”. Our guests walked away extremely impressed by Westports ability to offer such customizations.
Overall, our visit to Westport Yachts was a memorable experience, offering a glimpse into the innovation and commitment that drives this esteemed shipyard. We eagerly anticipate the official announcements of their upcoming projects and cannot wait to see what they have in store for the future of luxury yachting. Fort Lauderdale Boat Show #FLIBS2023
During the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show held in October, we had the privilege of showcasing the magnificent 87′ Vripack Doggersbank yacht, named “SEINNA,” just off the beautiful Las Olas area. It was a joy to welcome guests on board and reconnect with friends we have made over the years.
“SEINNA” is a stunning example of Dutch craftsmanship, built and designed by renowned yacht builder Vripack. Throughout its lifetime, the yacht has undergone extensive refits, ensuring it remains in top-notch condition and up to date with the latest trends in luxury yachting.

These vessels have gained a reputation for their exceptional quality, seaworthiness, and timeless design.
In recent years, the Doggersbank line has experienced a revival, with new models being produced to meet the demands of discerning yacht enthusiasts.
